ROUTINE DENTAL TREATMENT
This includes a thorough oral exam to identify pathology that either is or could cause discomfort, weight loss and performance problems.
Treatment of these pathologies using battery operated motor tools.
Advice on the best time frame for future treatments and a in-depth dental chart.
CAP REMOVAL
Removal of deciduous (baby teeth) when necessary.
Diastema

If diastema are identified during the oral exam they will be thoroughly cleaned using a high pressure water pick and a treatment plan will be made.
WOLF TOOTH EXTRACTION
Removal of normal wolf teeth under sedation (this must be administered by your vet).
BITTING ADVICE
During the oral exam mouth conformation can be assessed to help riders make a more informed bit choice for their horse.
ADVANCED DENTAL TREATMENT
This includes the same as a routine treatment plus treatment of any advanced pathology identified during the oral exam
ABOUT
MEILA
Meila O'Grady is a BEVA and BVDA Qualified Equine Dental Technician with a BSc (Hons) degree in Equine Dental Science and a member of the BAEDT.
Meila started her training to become an Equine Dental Technician in 2006 when she was accepted onto the Equine Dental Science degree at Hartpury college in Gloucestershire.
Meila graduated in 2009 and moved back to Cornwall where she was lucky to spend the next two years gaining valuable experience working along side a qualified member of the BAEDT. After just over 2 years Meila had the case studies and references required to apply to sit the BEVA/BVDA dental exam. In February 2012 Meila Qualified as an Equine Dental Technician and was eligible to join the BAEDT.
After this Meila set up South West Equine Dental services and spent the next 10 years working successfully throughout Cornwall.
Meila and her husband Aaron have since relocated to Ireland. They have settled here with their Daughter, 4 horses and miniature Dachshund, Dobby. Outside of work Meila enjoys competing her 3 horses and taking her daughter for rides on her miniature shetland Teddy.
